WRITERS IN THE SCHOOLS ALLIANCE
Writers in the Schools (WITS) is a member of the Writers in the Schools Alliance (WITSA), a national professional network aimed at strengthening and sustaining organizations whose programs provide literary arts education for K-12 students across the U.S. All of the organizations place professional writers in long-term residencies in public schools and other community centers. By sharing their experience and expertise, the WITS Alliance members help each other and other organizations to become stronger and more effective, serving more children. Specifically, partner programs benefit from:

* Access to experts in this field * Models for training and evaluation * Professional development and leadership training * Educational resources, legal documentation, reference materials * A circle of mentors and peers * Opportunities for collaboration * Recognition and publicity * Validation and credibility * And the power of a shared vision.

WITSA members include:

Writers in the Schools (Houston, TX)
InsideOut (Detroit, MI)
Literary Arts, Inc. (Portland, OR)
Log Cabin Literary Center (Idaho)
Teachers & Writers Collaborative (New York)
Community-Word Project (New York)
