Thank you for supporting WITS at our 2017 Back-to-School Luncheon Thank you for supporting WITS at our 2017 Back-to-School Luncheon OCT 1, 2017

As WITS Writer-in-Residence Aaron Counts shared at the event, WITS celebrates the power of youth to create beauty, and that beauty was certainly evident as we heard from our incredible youth poets Daunte, Noelia, Amr, Angel, Lily, and Tali. Together, we raised $131,500 to send talented WITS Writers – like Aaron and Sierra – Back to School to inspire and engage more than 6,000 local K-12 students this year.

As supporters of Writers in the Schools, together you are standing with Angel, our 2016/17 Youth Poet Laureate who bravely shared, “Only I can know what to expect from me…Nothing less than a success story.” Your presence at our Back-to-School Luncheon and your investment in our work affirms that you mirror Angel’s belief in her expectations and her future success, as well as the talents and success of students like Daunte, Noelia, Amr, Lily and Tali, who all inspired us with their poems.

On behalf of the Seattle Arts & Lectures Board and staff, our WITS Writers and schools and Seattle Children’s, and most of all, on behalf of more than 6,000 WITS students, a tremendous and resounding THANK YOU to each and every one of you!

We absolutely could not do this work without you.

The entire SAL team,
Alex, Alicia, Alison, Amanda, Amelia, Christina, Leanne, Nichole, Rebecca & Ruth
